Keely Peterson
Head Coach

Keely Peterson enters her third season as head coach of the East Texas Baptist University volleyball program. In her second season, she led ETBU to a 13-19 record overall and the #3 seed in the American Southwest Conference Tournament from the East Division. Peterson coached ASC Community Service and Fred Jacoby Sportsmanship winner Abby Weaver.

2017 Highlights

  • Defeated #13 ranked UTD 3-2 at home
  • Finished 4-3 at home
  • Swept LETU 3-0 in both series this season
  • Defeated HSU 3-2 in the ASC Tournament
  • Paige Miller and Elyse Shaw were named to the All-ASC First Team
  • Abby Weaver and Allison Sevening named to All-ASC Second Team

2016 Highlights

  • Went 3-1 at home
  • Swept Texas Tyler winning in Ornleas Gym, 3-0, and in Tyler, 3-2
  • Defeated Birmingham Southern, who was receiving votes in the South Regional Poll, 3-2
  • Mallory Sanders earned All-ASC East Division First-Team, All-ASC, and ASC East Division Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year
  • Morgan Rupp and Kayla Green were All-ASC Second-Team
  • Mallory Sanders was voted a CoSIDA Academic All-American Third-Team selection which was the first-ever for the program

About Coach Peterson

  • Head coach for Gilmer High School from 2012-2015 where she won 89 games in four seasons with no losing record in district play and a co-district championship
  • Led Gilmer high to victory over Spring Hill High School in district play for the first time in 10 years
  • Reached the 4A Region II District 16 semifinals in the UIL playoffs
  • Volunteered for the Champions For Light Volleyball Camp in the summer of 2014
  • Assistant softball coach at ETBU under head coach Janae Shirley in 2012
  • Worked with the East Texas Juniors club level team in Longview, Texas, for three years
  • Played for ETBU from 2008-2010, where she helped lead them to two 20+ win seasons in 2008 and 2009
  • Keely is married to ETBU assistant baseball coach Torry Peterson and they have one daughter who is almost two years old

Darby Graff
Assistant Coach

Darby Graff enters her second season as an ETBU assistant coach. Graff played collegiately at Texas A&M and Arkansas State University. She graduated from Texas A&M in 2015 and is from Hallsville, Texas.  

About Coach Graff

  • She played three seasons at Texas A&M where she was a member of the All-SEC Honor Roll in 2013 and 2014 and graduated early with a degree in University Studies - Sports Leadership Concentration.
  • She hit .339 in 2014 and helped the Aggies to two NCAA Tournament appearances
  • Graff transferred to Arkansas State University where she played in 2015
  • She led the Wolves to a 28-2 record going 16-0 in the Sun Belt Conference to win the conference championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament
  • She averaged 3.03 kills per set and had 309 kills hitting .355 overall
  • Collected 71 blocks in the 2015 season and had a career-high 19 kills vs. Florida Gulf Coast and 10 blocks vs. Appalachian State
  • She also led them to a 24-match winning streak and a national ranking
  • At Hallsville High School, she was a two-time Texas Sports Writers Association All-State leading them to a 93-24 record in three years and earning the District 14-4A MVP was unanimously given the award

Tori Stewart
Graduate Assistant

Tori Stewart enters her first season as a graduate assistant coach for Keely Peterson on ETBU's staff in 2017. Stewart was a four-year starter at North Carolina Wesleyan College and will be pursuing her master’s degree in Business Administration – Entrepreneurial Leadership

About Coach Stewart

  • Finished her career with 916 digs, 287 blocks, and 1,061 kills
  • Ranks 4th overall at North Carolina Wesleyan in career kills
  • Posted career high 25 kills vs. William Peace in senior season
  • Had 11 bocks vs. Haverford College
  • Had shoulder surgery in 2014
  • Graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan in 2017 with a degree in Organizational Administration – concentration in Sports Administration
  • Native of Purcellville, Virginia
  • Went to Loudoun Valley High School
